Internship Opportunities

 

About:

The Mayor’s Office of Community Engagement accepts applications throughout the year for unpaid internships focused on learning about working in local government. These applications are reviewed on an as needed basis.

What to expect:

Community Engagement Interns perform a variety of duties including:

  • Responding to resident inquiries

  • Research on issues important to the Mayor’s office

  • Assisting with important meetings, community events, and press conferences

  • Scheduling, logistics

  • Professional writing (certificates, proclamations, resolutions, memos, etc.)

  • Special projects

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be enrolled in high school, community college or university, recent graduates are also welcome

  • Live in the greater Sacramento area, can include Yolo, Placer or El Dorado counties

  • Be able to work at Sacramento City Hall on a regular basis, parking is provided

  • Commit to working a minimum of 12 hours per week for 3 to 6 months

Ideal candidates will demonstrate specific interest in local government and the types of issues that local governments handle on a day to day basis.
